God Has Your Back
June 1, 2017“God ALWAYS knows best. He can see the larger picture and details that we never can. So, women in ministry, be encouraged. Things may not be going as you had planned, but God has your back. Follow your heart and the plans God has placed on your heart.”
Vicky serves as the Mobilization Administrator for Brethren in Christ World Missions (BICWM). Over the past six years, she has traveled to various BIC churches across the US and within more than 10 different countries. In these travels, Vicky has engaged with BIC missionaries and learned about their ministries and ways to invite others to partner in their work of carrying out the Great Commission.
Prior to joining BICWM, Vicky worked in the business world at Armstrong World Industries for 20 years, holding various administrative, marketing and project management positions. Working in ministry was never on her radar, but she affirms that God works in amazing ways. After being approached by the BIC Director of World Missions about the Mobilization role, and receiving confirmation from a random stranger on an airplane, Vicky took a step of faith and branched into ministry.
When asked about her ministry passions, Vicky shares, “I really desire to help people think outside of their ‘own world’ and consider the possibilities that God might have for them. I believe we all have a story that makes us who we are, and I’m always amazed at how God uses that story to build His Kingdom. I especially have a heart for sharing with youth and young adults who are just beginning to make their place in the world.”
Vicky lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, Jared, and their two cats. Beyond work and ministry, Vicky loves to spend time with Jared, their nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She has a passion for running and the outdoors but also enjoys down time with a good book.
Vicky and Jared have been married for 25 years and do not have any children of their own. That wasn’t their original plan, but God had other plans in mind for them. During the years of sadness and grief of not having children, Vicky never imagined how God would fulfill that area of their lives in the future. Today, Vicky has more children in her life than she ever would have had if she would have had her own. As part of her Mobilization role, she meets, disciples, encourages and mentors many youth and young adults. She has become “Aunt” to many and has even been called the “Mother of Nations.” Vicky has a passion for encouraging, mentoring and praying with young people as they discern God’s calling on their lives, a passion she exhibits regularly through overseeing the BICWM STEP program.
Vicky’s words of encouragement for women serving in ministry are, “God ALWAYS knows best. He can see the larger picture and details that we never can. So, women in ministry, be encouraged. Things may not be going as you had planned, but God has your back. Follow your heart and the plans God has placed on your heart.”
